How to Find Large Videos on iPhone

Updated 11 September 2026 · Deletely

The Photos app does not sort your library by file size. You can still find the clips that take the most space with Settings, then the Videos collection. You do not need Deletely or any other app to start.

Check iPhone Storage first

iOS sometimes lists the heaviest video files under storage recommendations. The list is not always there. Apple only shows recommendations when it has something to suggest.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General, then iPhone Storage. Wait for the list to finish loading.
  3. Tap Photos if it appears, and read any recommendations.
  4. If you see a review-videos control, open it. That list is typically ordered with larger clips first.

Apple’s storage overview is in How to check the storage on your iPhone. If nothing useful appears, use Photos instead. That is normal.

Open the Videos collection in Photos

This is the reliable path. It will not sort by megabytes. Long 4K clips, bursts of video, and screen recordings still stand out once they are in one place.

  1. Open Photos.
  2. Tap Collections.
  3. Scroll to Media Types, then tap Videos.

On older iOS, look under Albums, then Media Types, then Videos. Screen recordings also live in their own collection. If those are the clips filling the phone, see How to Delete Screen Recordings on iPhone.

Apple’s media-type path is in Locate photos and videos by media type.

See how large a clip actually is

Open a video, then swipe up or tap Info. Photos can show file size with the other details. That is the built-in way to compare two clips when the grid does not.

A long duration is a hint, not a measurement. A short 4K clip can still be larger than a long, lower-resolution one. Check Info before you delete something you wanted to keep.

Delete what you do not need

Once you have found a clip, deletion is the same as any other video.

  1. Open it, or stay in the Videos collection and tap Select.
  2. Tap the trash button, then confirm.

Deleted videos still use storage in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Empty that collection if you need the space now. The steps match our other guides, and Apple documents them in Delete photos on your iPhone or iPad.

If iCloud Photos is on

A deletion on this iPhone is deleted on every other device where iCloud Photos is on and you are signed in with the same Apple Account. Apple’s iCloud Photos page covers that rule.

Optimize iPhone Storage is a different setting. It keeps smaller copies on the device and the full files in iCloud. It does not delete videos. Apple explains it in Manage your photo and video storage.

An easier way to review large videos

You do not need another app to find clips in Photos. If you want them grouped for review, Deletely can surface large videos alongside screenshots and recordings. Nothing is preselected. Analysis stays on your iPhone. See Privacy.

When you do delete from Deletely, the items still follow Photos, including Recently Deleted. Deletely cannot recover media for you.
